Edna Mae Moutell

MURPHYSBORO - Edna Mae Moutell, 80, died at 5:39 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 1997, in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Frank Voorhees officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and until 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moutell was a homemaker, and had worked as a cook at Tippey's Restaurant.

She was a member of Victory Christian Church.

She was born Nov. 30, 1916, in East St. Louis to Charles and Emma Smith.

She married Hada Moutell on Nov. 30, 1939, in Cape Girardeau. He died Feb. 15, 1995.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Ann and Gary Varner of Murphysboro; eight grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddie Smith of Marble Hill, Mo., and Gilbert Smith of East St. Louis and Ruby Clover of Murphysboro; and several nieces and nephews.

One great-grandshild, one grandson-in-law, Jim Poe, her twin sister and her parents also preeded her in death.
