Funeral services for Mr. Matthew Marcum will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 26, 2018 at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville with Reverend James Greer officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, LA under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Marcum, age 88, of Pineville, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 22, 2018 in his residence.
Matt was a member of Journey Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War where he served his country proudly, retiring after twenty-five years of service. He went on to retire again from the U. S. Postal Service after twenty years of service. He loved football, hunting and fishing. Matt will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Marcum is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Olena Marcum and his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Maxine Pemberton Marcum.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his daughters, Sheila Bardwell and her husband Bobby of Tioga, Kimberly Boyd and her husband Bruce of Pollock; his son, Steven Dean Marcum of Austin, TX; his grandchildren, Robbie Bardwell of Tioga, Cherie Smith of Alexandria, VA, Heather Crooks of Pineville, Jessica Peterson of San Diego, CA, Tommy Peterson of Cortolane, ID; his great grandchildren, Lexie, Kinsley, Karston, Bella, Harrison, Carly, Lola and Penelope.
Visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm and will resume on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 8:00 am until time of service.
