William Michael "Mike" Etherton, 63, of Steeleville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Mike was born on June 24, 1950 in Sparta, IL to Roscoe and Ethel Etherton nee Benjamin. Mike worked for 30 years for the U.S.D.A. as a financial specialist. Mike was a member of the Bulldog Booster Club and was an avid Sparta High School Bulldog Fan. He especially loved watching and supporting the Sparta High School Baseball Team.
Mike is survived by two sisters, Fran Ingram of Melbourne, Florida and Nancy (Ray) Branson of Fenton, MO. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Sparta.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, Sparta and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Interment will follow funeral services at Caledonia Cemetery, Sparta, IL.
Memorials may be given to the Sparta High School Baseball Team.
