Virginia E. Ellis, 89, of Murphysboro, passed away at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County, Murphysboro, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Pettett Funeral Home with Rev.Murriel Nance and Rev. Judy Vidakovich officiating and burial at Jerusalem Cemetery at Pomona. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
Virginia was born June 25, 1922, in Cobden, Illinois, to Charles A. Rendleman and Lula E. (Trammel) Rendleman.
She worked from 1953 to 1980 as a clerk at the A & P Grocery in Granite City, Madison and E. St. Louis, Illinois.
Virginia married Millard W. Ellis on March 19, 1940, in Jackson, Missouri, and he preceded her in death on July 26, 1984.
Mrs. Ellis was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Carbondale, Illinois.
She was a member of the American Legion Post # 127 Ladies Auxiliary and the Murphysboro Senior Citizens, where she was also a member of the Kitchen Band.
Virginia was survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and one sister in law, and she was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
