MURPHYSBORO - Georgia P. Burris, 77, passed away at 12:48 p.m. Tuesday Jan. 8, 2008, in Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, in Pettett Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darrell Neathery officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park in Murphysboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, and until 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Mount Carbon Christian Church in Murphysboro.
Georgia was born on June 8, 1930, in Jackson County, Illinois, to Ardell Hagler and Daisy (Cripps) Hagler.
She was a homemaker and had worked at several factories in the area including Luster and Jo-Mac Glove Factory.
Mrs. Burris was a member of Mount Carbon Christian Church in Murphysboro and enjoyed gardening, canning, and spending time with her grandsons.
Georgia married Donald L. Burris on Sept. 10, 1949, in Murphysboro, and he survives.
Other survivors include two children and their spouses, Wayne Burris and wife, Jeannie Burris, of Murphysboro and Sandra Mileur and husband, Steve Mileur, of Murphysboro; two grandsons, Ginseng W. Mileur and Elias Ray Mileur; one step-grandson, Bobby Milton; three sisters, Evelyn Wright of Johnston City, Mary Ellis and husband, Leonard, of O'Fallon, Alice Arnold and husband, Alan, of O'Fallon; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Eula Mae Ellis; and two half-sisters Ada Jackson and Leola Ellis.
