CORINTH -- F. Robert Etherton, 88, passed away at 2:56 a.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery, east of Johnston City. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Robert was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Corinth, the son of Fred and May (Roberts) Etherton. He married Ruth (Kee) on Sept. 19, 1942, in Jackson, Mo. She preceded him in death May 8, 2008.
Robert retired from CIPS and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
He is survived by one daughter, Roberta Pitts of Goreville; eight grandchildren, Lena Kay E. Wilson of Richmond, Ky., Heath Lawrence of Marion, John Etherton of Herrin, Neily Campbell of Jacksonville, Fla., Josh Lawrence of Johnston City, Rebecca Etherton of Marion, Robert Allen Etherton of Pittsburg, and Cheyenne Hall of Pittsburg; seven great-grandchildren, Destinee and Zoe Campbell of Florida, Kolten Wilson of Kentucky, Hannah Laney of Herrin, Mia Lawrence of Johnston City, Max Etherton of Herrin, and Jaxten Wilson of Kentucky; and daughters-in-law and son-in-law, Donna and Scott Hall of Pittsburg and Kay Etherton of Marion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, J. Fred Etherton and Randy Etherton.
