CORINTH - Ruth Etherton, 83, passed away at 2:53 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, in Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Murman and Wilson Funeral Home in Johnston City, with the Rev. James Sanders and the Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ruth was born April 12, 1925, east of Johnston City, the daughter of John and Ona (Craig) Kee.
She married F. Robert Etherton on Sept. 19, 1942, in Jackson, Mo. He survives.
Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She led the church choir for 30 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Roberta Pitts of Goreville; one brother, Jesse Kee and wife, Eva Lou, of Johnston City; one sister, Louise Hoffard and husband, Clydell, of Johnston City; eight grandchildren, LenaKay E. Wilson of Richmond, Ky., Heath Lawrence of Marion, John Etherton of Herrin, Neily Campbell of Jacksonville, Fla., Josh Lawrence of Johnston City, Rebecca Etherton of Marion, Robert Allen Etherton of Pittsburg and Cheyenne Hall of Pittsburg; five great-grandchildren, Destinee and Zoe Campbell of Florida, Kolten Wilson of Kentucky, Hannah Laney of Herrin and Mia Lawrence of Johnston City; daughters-in-law and son-in-law, Donna and Scott Hall of Pittsburg and Kay Etherton of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, J. Fred Etherton and Randy Etherton; and three brothers, John Kee, Walter "Tat" Kee and William "Bill" Kee.
