Description:
I received the following e-mail from Jim Etherton on November 6, 1996.
My grandfather was Lewis Etherton, and my dad is Theron Kirk (Jack) Etherton. Not many "Therons" anymore. "Poppa" came to Idaho from Carbondale, Illinois in the 1920's. He lived in Palouse, ID then moved up to Kellogg, ID to work as a carpenter. He helped build the Bunker Hill Company Zinc Plant in 1928. Lewis (William?) Etherton was married to Hannah Sutton, from England. "Meme" always told us that she had booked passage on the "Titanic", but missed the sailing date due to illness. She died less than one year after Poppa died, around 1968. (Sorry I have no details in front of me now). Lewis and Hannah's children are: Daniel (living in Seattle (Redmond) WA) William (living in Pinecreek, ID) Jack (living in Pinecreek, ID) Bud (living in Vermont) My wife, Marcia, does not believe that Uncle Bud is "Bud". He is, and he has no middle name as far as I know. Maybe you even have a version of the apocryphal tale of our possible ancestor, a Mr. Atherton, who was connected to the Lord Baltimore Court. He had to make a quick getaway one night (insert story of possible ill repute here), and headed west, changing his name to "Etherton" to avoid being followed. Makes a great story, anyway.
I received the following e-mail from Jim Etherton on February 26, 1998.
My father, Theron Kirk "Jack" Etherton, was born July 2, 1920 (I assume in Carbondale, IL). He married Jean Myrea Line (b. May 6, 1925) in Nebraska. Mom haspassed on, but Dad still lives in Pinecreek, in the Idaho panhandle. Their children are: 1. Jacqueline Carroll Etherton 2. Judith Mae Etherton 3. James Lewis Kirk Etherton 4. Jon Sherman Etherton 5. Jodi Myrea Etherton 6. Jo Hannah Etherton
