Mildred A. Grammer, 101 of Murphysboro died at 8:15pm on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at her home in Murphysboro. Mildred was born on June 23, 1911 in Murphysboro a daughter to the late Joseph H. and Mary S. (Brand) Smith. She was united in marriage to Carvel Grammer on November 25, 1949; Carvel preceded her in death on December 4, 1969. Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Murphysboro where she was a member of the Mary Magdalene and Amoma Sunday School Classes. She was also a member of Eastern Star in Murphysboro, A.A.R.P., Murphysboro Senior Citizens and the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital and the former Jackson County Nursing Home Auxiliaries. Though Mildred was never blessed with children of her own, Cheryl and her family were gifted with a grandmother to cherish over the last fifty years. She became the great-grandmother to three and great-great grandmother of four. Mildred lit up the room with her smiles and loving ways, and will be missed by her family

Funeral services will be at 11am on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Rev. Shaker Samuel of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 9 to 11am on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Memorials are encouraged and may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include one sister; Evelyn A. Price of Murphysboro, one adopted granddaughter and her husband; Cheryl and Andy Belobraydic of Carbondale, three adopted great-grandchildren and their spouses; Andrew and Ashlee Belobraydic, Anthony and Jessica Belobraydic and Katherine and Ryan Rawson, and four adopted great-great grandchildren; Luke and Hope Belobraydic and John and Ella Rawson.
