Cleveland Floyd "Pete" Grammer, 67, a lifelong resident of Illinois, went to his eternal resting place at 5:40 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, in Carbondale Memorial Hospital at Carbondale, Illinois.

Cleveland was born on January 25, 1946, in Grand Tower, Illinois to Paul Edward and Helen Louise (Cook) Grammer, the youngest of three children. He married Linda J. Miles on December 10, 1966, and she survives. They settled in DeSoto and were blessed with one child, William Edward Grammer, who gave him one grandchild, Kimberly Lynn Grammer.

Mr. Grammer was a member of the Baptist faith. He had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Pete was a beloved father, grandfather and brother, who is remembered by all as a loving and giving person. He was particularly proud of being a Grandfather and doted on his grandchild.

Survivors include his son and daughter in law William and Cynthia A. Grammer of Saucier, Mississippi; granddaughter Kimberly; one brother and sister in law Lynn "Sonny" and Sue Cavaness formerly of Murphysboro; Diana Ethridge of Murphysboro; nephew Charles Georgeff; and nieces Tammy Miller and Lynda Georgeff. He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per his request, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at the American Legion Paul Stout Post # 127 in Murphysboro, at 1 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013.
