Ray A. Penrod, 85, of Carbondale, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born on July 24, 1914, in Jackson County, the son of Albert and Maude Lipe Penrod. On July 20, 1936, he was married to Lillian Stearns, and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2000, just ten days prior to his passing.
Mr. Penrod was engaged in fanning and was formerly employed at Lustour Corporation in Murphysboro. He was a member of Dutch Ridge Baptist Church and Jackson County Farm Bureau.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, John and Tania Penrod, and the grandchildren, Mitchell and Lydia Penrod, all of Carbondale.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crain General Home Pleasant Grove Chapel, with the Rev. Davy Miller officiating, Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.
Memorials contributions may be made to TIP Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
