Charles L. Grammer, 79 of Murphysboro, died Saturday in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro after a long illness.
He was born in Jackson county on April 7, 1885, the son of Albert and Elizabeth Jones Grammer. He married Hattie Fleming in Pomona in 1908.
Mr. Grammer was a member of the Dutch Ridge Baptist Church. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.
He leaves his wife; daughters, Mrs. Lucille Adams, Mrs. Bernice Allison, Mrs. Inez Blessing, Mrs. Gussie Brunty and Mrs. Ova Etherton, all of Murphysboro; sons, Nelson of Alto Pass, and Chester and Wilburn, both of Murphysboro; sisters, Mrs. Cora Rawson of Pomona, Mrs. Ara Ferrill of Cobden and Mrs. Eula Heslap of St. Petersburg, Fla; a brother, Ross of Murphysboro; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Meyer-Denny Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with Rev. W. W. Childers officiating. Burial will be in Dutch Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
