Gloria Charlene Etherton, 81, was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Cotton Valley, Louisana, and passed peacefully from this earthly life to be with our Lord April 13, 2016, in Yucca Valley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Addreson Allen and Mary Lou Ellen Allen (Louton); son William Ray Etherton; brothers Nick Allen, Olaf Allen and Eugene Allen; and sisters Clarice Brockman and Nevelle Danner.
Charlene is survived by her husband, Gordon Etherton, son and daughter-in-law Joel and Debbie Etherton, son Jon Etherton, two grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Charlene and Gordon were married Nov. 12, 1954, in Long Beach. They moved to Yucca Valley in 1967, where they have resided for the past 49 years.
She was involved with the local PTA and Cub Scouts. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 49 years where she was very involved with all the ministries. She was also administrator of Calvary Baptist Church School for many years.
Charlene was dearly beloved by her family, her friends, all those who worked with her and the students at the school.
She will be sorely missed.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 16, at Calvary Baptist Church in Yucca Valley ar 57175 Crestview Drive. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery.
