Description:

Benjamin Pickering departed this life Aug. 8, 1894. Born in Green County, Tennessee, March 21, 1815, aged seventy-nine years, four months and nineteen days. He was married to Miss Malinda White, July 25, 1835. To them were born eleven children, seven boys and four girls. Two boys and one girl had preceded their father in death. He leaves an aged widow, five sons and three daughers, thirty-two grand children to mourn. Through they mourn, they mourn not as those that have no hope. He made a profession of religion in early life, joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, lived consistent christian life in precept and example. Beloved by all will be missed by all. His country looses one of its defenders and supporters, his neighbors a kind and accommodating neighbor, the children and grand children and affecionate father whose words of counsel and timely admonitions will be missed. His aged companion that has trod the path of life for fifty-nine years is left to watch and wait her appointed time that she will join him in the sweet by-and-by.
