After Forty-Eight Hours' Search the Body of Wesley Grammer, Drowned Near Pomona, Not Recovered

Rumors of Suicide Not Believed.

At noon today the body of Wesley Grammer, fourteen year old son of John Grammer; drown in Cedar Creek near Pomona Saturday morning, had not yet been recovered. Parties of searchers have been at work ever since the accident happened, but so far have succeeded in finding no race of the missing boy other than the hat worn by him, which has been recovered from the stream. The creek is said to be a very rapid stream, and at present much deeper than ordinary owing to the heavy rains recently. Near the place of the drowning the water is said to be ordinarily fully ten feet deep.

Rumor reached relatives and friends here last night that the affair was a case of suicide instead of drowning; that the boy and his father had had trouble and the former had told his parent that morning that he would never see him again. This rumor, however, is not given much credit here. The reported drowning has caused much excitement in that vicinity and crowds of people visited the scene of the accident Sunday.

Capt. and Mrs. J. W. Grammer and son, Arthur Grammer, were at Cedar Creek near Pomona yesterday where their grand-son and nephew, Wesley Grammer was drown on Saturday. They state that several hundred people were there yesterday, many assisting in the search for the body which at this writing has not been recovered.
