GOLCONDA - Albert Ray Etherton Sr., 57, of rural route 2 near the Brownheld community died Wednesday morning, March 1997, at 1:05 a.m. at his home.

Mr. Etherton was born March 13 1939, at Carbondale, IL. He was the son of the late Oagle Ray Etherton and Minnie Alberta (Morgan) Etherton. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Wilson on Oct. 30 1965, in De Soto, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Albert Ray and Tonya Etherton Jr., Shane Leslie and Anna Etherton, Travis Ray Etherton and Jason Allen Etherton. Albert was a loving "Pappy to three granddaughters, Shania Nicole Etherton, Lexus Ann Etherton and Mason Danielle Etherton. He is also survived by a loving sister, Barbara Etherton of De Soto, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Albert worked as a journeyman auto body repairman. He was a U.S Army veteran, having served in Viet nam pnor to his discharge in 1964.

He attended Jackson County public schools and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Metropolis, IL.

Funeral services will be held today, March 8, 1997, at 2 p.m. at the Whitnel Funeral Home in Vienna. Raymond Blumenstock will officiate. Burial will be in Field Cemetery in Pope County.

Memorials may be made to Tip of Illinois Hospice Program, Lourdes Hospice, American Cancer Society or the Heart Association. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
