Obituary for Phyllis Ann Carter (Zimmerman)
Phyllis Ann Carter, 81, of Murphysboro, passed away at 1:44 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Fairview Health Care in DuQuoin, Illinois.
Phyllis was born on December 22, 1937, in Oraville, to John Zimmerman and Jennie (Worthen) Zimmerman.
She had worked for over 10 years at Compac in Carbondale.
Mrs. Carter attended the Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro.
Phyllis married Billy Carter on June 7, 1954, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2017.
She is survived by one son Fred Carter of Murphysboro and one daughter Debra Presutti of Murphysboro;
seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson Justin Clover, one brother Harold Zimmerman, one sister Audrey Jordan and his [sic] parents.
Gravesite services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 19, 2019, at Murdale Gardens of Memory with Rev. Jim Frye officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com.
