Bessie Pearl Maynor, 87, of Murphysboro, passed away surrounded by her loving family and friends at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Bessie was born on July 5, 1931, in Pomona, Illinois, to Bert Adams and Lucille (Grammer) Adams.
She had worked at Brown Shoe Factory, the Glove Factory and at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Maynor attended Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro. She had previously been a member of the American Legion Post # 127 Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge.
Bessie married James Ray Maynor on December 1, 1951, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on January 11, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her son Michael Ray Maynor on February 16, 2019.
She is survived by one grandson and his wife Travis and Chrissy Maynor of Ava; two great grandchildren Gracie Alexis Maynor and Noah James Maynor, both of Ava; one sister Carma Powers Cape Girardeau, MO; one aunt Inez Blessing of Murphysboro; one niece Tracy Bratton-Webb and her husband Greg of Cape Girardeau, MO, and one sister in law Rosalie Winters of Murphysboro.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Pettett Funeral Home and burial at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
