MURPHYSBORO - Fay Fisher, 94, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Murphysboro, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Dec. 5, 2013, in Lehigh Acres Florida.

Fay was born Jan. 4, 1919, in Murphysboro, a daughter to the late Roy and Lela (Holder) Ferrill.

Fay was united in marriage to Emmett LaVern "Fish" Fisher on March 5, 1939, in Murphysboro. LaVern preceded her in death March 4, 1973.

At the age of 5, while a student at Logan Elementary School Fay survived the March 25, 1925, tri-State tornado that devastated Murphysboro. Fay was employed for many years by City National Bank in Murphysboro.

She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Murphysboro, and was a member of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed many years of playing cards with the "girls" and traveling. In her later years she moved to Libertyville.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, in Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro, with the Rev. Shaker Samuel of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Murphysboro and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lee Bomgaars of Libertyville; one son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Frances Fisher of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; one sister, Susan Williams of Maryville; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Owen T. Ferrill.
