Dewey L. Woosley, 93, of Murphysboro, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his residence in Murphysboro, Illinois.

Dewey was born on April 19, 1926, in Spring Lick, Kentucky, to Cleveland and Nancy Woosley.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Dewey worked as a welder for the Pipefitters.

Mr. Woosley was a member of Christ Community Church in Murphysboro.

Dewey married Phyllis Smith on July 28, 1948, in Rockford, Illinois, and she preceded him in death on May 23, 2017.

Survivors include five daughters Peggy Friese of Florida, Rhonda Bodkin and her husband Jim Bodkin and Karen Hale and her husband Marvin Hale, all of Murphysboro, Cheryl Halstead of Phoenix, AZ, and Jan Farmer of Hurst; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter Linda, one son in law, one great grandson, four brothers, six sisters, and his parents.

It was his wish to be buried as soon as possible. Therefore gravesite services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2020, at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park with Rev. Rick McNeely officiating.
