DAVENPORT — Clarence Woodrow Wakefield, 91, of Davenport, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at his home. A celebration of life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at the funeral home in Davenport. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park, where military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 26, Davenport. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Wakefield was born in 1924 in Exline, Iowa, to William and Caddie Wakefield. Upon his high school graduation, he served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1951. On June 6, 1950, he married Agnes M. Saldana in Kirksville, Missouri. She preceded him in death Jan. 13, 1985. He was a crane operator for Alcoa for 25 years, retiring in 1988.
Survivors include his son, Tim (Sharla) Wakefield, of Davenport; step-sons, Larry (Charlotte) Hernandez, of Missouri, Raymond (Phyllis) Hernandez, of Long Grove, and Ronald (Susan) Hernandez, of Princeton, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Everett Wakefield, of Rock Island. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Tom Wakefield, step-son, Eugene Hernandez, and all his other siblings.
