Delmond Dale Ellis, 71, passed away at 9:31 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2020, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro.
Delmond was born on May 18, 1949, in Jackson County, Illinois, to Howard Orvil Ellis and Crettie Alvan (Fuller) Bastien.
He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam.
Mr. Ellis had worked as a truck driver all his life.
Delmond loved fishing and playing the guitar and dobro.
Mr. Ellis had attended the Macedonia Pentecostal Church in Macedonia, Illinois.
He married Pam Fielding on November 26. 1986, in Jackson County, Illinois, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons Sheldon Dale Ellis of Murphysboro and Matthew Ellis of Anna; three step sons Jody Lynn Etherton and Charles Yearian, both of Murphysboro, and Randy Etherton of Pittsburg, Illinois five grandchildren and 6 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren; one brother David (Pam) Ellis of Pittsburg, Illinois; three sisters Janiece Penrod of Jonesboro, Karen (Jack) Hicks of Pomona, and Kathy (Randy) Wheaton of Jonesboro and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister Leona Ellis, three brothers Eldon, Leon and Deon Ellis, and his parents.
Gravesite services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 24, 2020, at Dutch Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Charles Allen officiating. For more information, please visit www.pettettfuneralhome.com
