Margaret Marie King, 92, of McGregor, Texas, formerly of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2015, in Providence Hospital in Waco. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2015, at Meredith Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015, at Meredith Funeral Home, in Carbondale, Illinois, with the Rev. Paul Hicks officiating. Interment will be in Dutch Ridge Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery next to her husband, James "Ed" King.
Margaret was born in Pomona, Illinois, to the late Rudolph E. and Katherine "Kate" Nance Lipe. She married James Edward King on February 3, 1951, in Murphysboro. Margaret was a fine and lovely lady, and was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a member of the Lantana Baptist Church in Carbondale. Margaret had spent the last six years living with her daughter and son-in-law and attended Columbus Avenue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on January 12, 2008; and three brothers.
Survivors include her daughter, Harriet Horner and husband, Dr. Doug Horner, of McGregor; sons, Jimmie Ray King and wife, Susan, of Cobden, Illinois, and Rev. Jerry King and wife, Joetta, of Carbondale, Illinois; grandchildren: Dr. Keith Horner and wife, Bridgitt, of Woodway, Drs. Robert and Patricia Horner Wilcox, of Waco, Christina King Poirier, of Carbondale, James Ryan and Angie King, of Murphysboro, Jaryn Lee King, of Carbondale, and Jeff and Jessica Wagley, of Johnson City; great-grandchildren: Madison and Christopher Horner, Brittany, Matthew and Meredith Wilcox, Gunnar Groves, Margaret "Marlea" and Benson Nash Poirier, Isaiah, Anna and Sophia Wagley, Garren and Estrella Renoso King; and sisters, Norma Stevens and Barbara Adams, both of Carbondale; many other relatives and friends.
