Verna B. Hagler was born June 4, 1913, in Pomona to Harrison J. and Leona (Todd) Davis. Her siblings include Lester Davis, Lucille Fielding, Pauline Verbal and Betty Tuttle. A sister, Ida Mae Miller, preceded her in death.

She married Willis Hagler on March 16, 1939, in Jackson, Mo. He died Aug. 4, 1988. Their children include one stepdaughter, Betty Stockdale.

Mrs. Hagler worked for 35 years in the mental health field. She started at Anna, then until her retirement in 1978 she was a mental health specialist working in the surrounding counties.

Verna loved to go camping, and she as a member of two camping organizations. She was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Electa and Ruth Chapter 379, White Shrine of Jerusalem 85, Murphysboro Senior Citizens and St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
