Robert Eugene Ellis, 78, of 2310 Commercial Ave., died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 1989, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pettett Funeral Home, with burial in Tower Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be until 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Ellis was a retired coal miner at Old Ben 24 in Benton.
He attended the First Christian Church and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
He was born April 10, 1911, in Murphysboro to Tom and Maude (Hanson) Ellis.
He married Lula Mae Williams in 1933. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Michael Ellis of Springfield; one daughter. Virginia Ellis of Carbondale; one brother, Jim Ellis of Pittsburgh; and four sisters, Lillian Ruble, Mary Mileur and Fern Hughes, all of Murphysboro, and Geneva Eisenhauer of Ava.
One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
