Elzira Thomas Turner was born December 8, 1890, in Ava to William and Darcus Hall Stoffel. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
She was married to Edgar Thomas; he preceded her in death. She later married John Turner, who also preceded her in death. Her surviving children were Ziretta Hale and Cecil Thomas, both of Murphysboro.
Mrs. Turner was a charter member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Murphysboro.
She died at the age of 84 on Saturday, August 16, 1975, in the Jackson County Nursing Home in Murphysboro. Her funeral service was held at Denny and Pettett Funeral Home. Rev. D. L. Scott and Rev. Paul Worley officiated.
