Ira Ellis, 69, a former Pomona resident, died at 9am Saturday (June 23, 1962) in the Tyler Nursing Home, Murphysboro, after an extended illness.
Ellis was born March 5, 1893 in Pomona. He was married in 1933 in Boskydell and his wife Laura Mae (Ward) died in 1959. He was a retired farmer who had lived in Pomona until moving to Murphysboro four years ago.
He leaves one sister, Mrs. Iva Thompson, of Murphysboro.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm Monday at the Meyer-Denny funeral home by the Rev. Hugh Stearns of Boskydell. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery.
