JB Etherton, age 90, passed on Friday, June 2, 2023.
He was a charter member of Hills Union Church, and the last surviving charter member of Newport Rescue Squad, where he had served in many capacities over the years and had received many awards including the Costo-McGhee award for his dedication to the squad, J B was a 50 year member of the Newport Masonic Lodge # 234 and # 4 and was a Scottish Rite Member also a Cocke County Shriner as well.
He was preceded in death by wife Jo Ann Etherton, parents Ben and Bessie Miller Etherton also several brothers and sisters.
He is survived his son Tim Etherton (Vickie), also several nieces , nephews, other family and friends including special friends Faye Brooks and K C Barker.
The family will receive friends 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Manes Funeral Home. Service to follow at 7 p.m. in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Ramey officiating.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Hills Union Cemetery. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Manes Funeral Home.
