Description: CARTERVILLE -- Virgil Yoast , 61, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion .

Mr. Yoast worked as a repairman for Maytag for over 35 years. He served his country with the U.S. Army. He loved to play and listen to Country and Western music every Saturday night. He was born August 16, 1941, in Carbondale to Ivan and Ada (Mutell) Yoast .

Survivors include three brothers and one sister-in-law, Loyd Yoast and Ervin Yoast , both of De Soto, and Ardell and Terri Yoast of Carterville; one sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Mike Dixon of Carbondale; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend whom he raised as a granddaughter, Ashley Cochran of Louisiana.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, John Yoast .

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. The Rev. Bob Inboden will officiate. Interment will be ub Cundiff Cemetery in Colp, with military graveside rites conducted by Herrin American Legion and VFW post. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
