Billie Dean Lawson
Bill Lawson was born May 31, 1939 to Marie Ellen and Hollis Woodrow in Putnam County, Mo. While a small boy the family moved to the vicinity of Seymour where he spent most of his childhood days, graduating from the Seymour High School.
On Sept. 7, 1958 at Sewel in the Evangelical United Brethern church, he was united in marriage to Marianna Huffine. To this union were born three children, Ronald Dean, Debra Kay, Sharon Louise. The family lived in the Des Moines area after their marriage.
Bill was an active member of the Polk County's Sheriff Posse, serving as secretary and treasurer of the organization. He was a member of the Promise City Church of Christ. Bill had a natural love for the out of doors, and drew his family into this appreciation that was his.
Bill died very unexpectedly July 29, 1967. Preceding him in death were his son, Ronald Dean and his father Hollis Woodrow.
Those who survive his death are his wife, Marianna; his daughters, Debra and Sharon; his mother, Marie; four brothers and a half sister, Gene, Larry, Gary, Allen, and Sue; a grandfather, Thomas Lawson; a grandmother, Grace Wakefield; many aunts and uncles, and host of friends.
Blessed be the memory of this loved one to his family and his friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Adelphi Baptist church in Runnells with Pastor Ron Hutchings officiating. Graveside services were held in the Shriever cemetery in Wayne county.
Mrs. Colleen Beattie sang "Softly and Tenderly" and "The Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Mrs. Ellen Beattie at the organ.
Pallbearers were: Max Peterson, Joe Northway, Chuck Dale, Bob Phillips, Larry Thompson and Paul Appleby.
Honorary pallbearers were Marion Brown, Chester Arndt, Dusty Rhodes, Dave Frakes, Leonard Palmer and Andy George.
