We James Harreld ?? being ?? residing in the County of Jackson & State of Illinois & Micajah Etherton residing in the same hereby certify that we are well acquainted with Zacharias Lyerly, who has signed & sworne to the above declaration, that we believe him to be 77-years of age, that he is reputed & believed in the neighborhood where he resides, to have been a soldier of the Revolution and that we concur in that opinion. [signed by James Harreld & Micajah Etherton] ..."
" ... And the said court do hereby declair their opinion, after the investigation of the matter & after putting the interrogatories prescribed by the War Department, that the above named applicant was a revolutionary soldier and served as he states. And the court further certifies that ir appears to them that James Harreld who had subscribed the preceeding certificate resident in the county of Jackson aforesaid & Micajah Etherton who has also subscribed the same is a resident in the county aforesaid & is a credible person & that their statement is entitled to credit. ..."
